I have a 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 80k on it. Two days ago the Jeep started to make a whining sound from the front driver side wheel. It does not occur after the Jeep has sat over night but starts after a couple of trips throughout the day and only happens when you reach a speed of 15mph or higher. The tone changes with the speed, and sounds like the dust shield is rubbing against the rubber of the wheel. No change in tone or feel if the wheel is turned left or right. I have checked the tire, dust shield, pads, and calibers then greased all the points possible. No scaring is present on the tire. I am beginning to wonder if it is the Hub and Bearing Assembly. Any thoughts before I replace this part?

bearings…I just did my s 10 cost 400 dollars
It could be the bearing just starting to go bad, you could check the tire again, jack up the wheel and run your hand along the surface of the the tread if it feels choppy that could be a source for the noise.
yes bearings, what a pleasure to assist someone that can troubleshoot and provide excellent cohesively written information
yeah i think its the bearings they are expensive espically on a kia sportage
